Who am I?
I am Sean, a 30 year old man from the North East (USA). I have a background in Information Technology with a specialization in Information Security. That said, in another world, I would have loved to have been a Financial Advisor, Financial Planner, CPA, or something else that has to do with money, finance, planning or similar.
Disclaimer: That said, I am not any of those things, this blog truly is intended as a community, and also, as a way for me to find a good way to take all of my thoughts and put them down somewhere. I do a lot of independent research and it can get really chaotic in my head, so this is a great place to compile it and lay it out. Take anything you read here as an opinion or collection of opinions and leave the life changing decisions to the professionals.
What can you expect to see here? Well, that depends. If I manage to break my record for maintaining a blog (and be warned, my track record is not great) there are a number of topics I look forward to writing about. Financial Independence and Early Retirement (FI/RE), passive income, side jobs (hussles, gigs, etc), real estate, investments, options, reducing costs, and who knows what else.
To anyone reading this, my very first post on planningfire.com, thank you for your support - just being here is a great step in the right direction. I welcome you to join in the comments. I fully intend to consider the advice of others, as a community I know we can make more educated decisions for our long term financial health. Also, I apologize, a writer I am not, if you asked the 13 year old Sean if he would ever considering writing for fun, he would probably not hear you - as he was to busy playing video games and not listening (that said - I still do that more than I care to admit), and English was not his strongest subject.
I am just a regular guy who does far to much research on financial independence and early retirement (FI/RE). I look forward to sharing my journey with you all.
